National Lineman Appreciation Day

Whew! There’s so much to celebrate in local government this week. It’s Local Government Week, National Public Safety TeNoah Smithlecommunicators Week, and today is National Lineman Appreciation Day.

Meet one of our LAGERS members who is a lineman in Carthage at Carthage Water & Electric. Noah Smith is a 3rd year Apprentice Lineman and has been with Carthage Water & Electric for 7 years. He was looking for a good job with stability and a good income when he became a lineman. “I love my job because I get to be home every night, I’m able to work with great guys and also be outside all the time.”

What drew him to local governmentNoah Smith climbing electric pole? He believes local government jobs provide a good source of work stability. “Government jobs are great for stability,” he says, “and I’m able to work in my local town and make things better here.” You can tell that Noah is committed to his career and appreciates the opportunities it gives him. As a LAGERS member he can rest assured that as he builds his career, he’s also building up secure retirement income.

Noah has been married for 3 years and has a 7 month old son.
