Nominations Open April 1 for the 2026 Local Government Hero Award

Each year, Missouri LAGERS recognizes an outstanding member whose dedication and service have made a lasting, positive impact on their workplace and community. If you know an active LAGERS member who consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, consider submitting a nomination for the 2026 Local Government Hero Award.

When to Submit
Nominations for the 2026 Local Government Hero Award open April 1 and close April 30 at 11:30 p.m. A committee of LAGERS staff will review all nominations and select a winner who will be recognized during LAGERS’ Annual Meeting in October.

Who Can Be Nominated
Nominees must be active LAGERS members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to public service. The award honors individuals whose work creates a meaningful and lasting impact beyond their normal job responsibilities.

How Nominees Are Evaluated
Nominees are evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • A consistent willingness to go above and beyond the daily duties of a public servant throughout their career
  • Creating a positive impact on their local community
  • Positively influencing colleagues, their employer, and their profession
  • Bringing distinction to themselves, their employer, or the community they serve through their actions or accomplishments

How to Submit a Nomination
Submitting a nomination is simple:

  1. Review the nomination guidelines on molagers.org
  2. Complete and submit the online nomination form
  3. Include any supporting materials, such as letters of support or photos, with your submission

All nomination materials must be submitted by 11:30 p.m. on April 30 to be considered.
