
The nomination period for the LAGERS Board of Trustees election is now open. Individuals interested in appearing on the ballot for this year’s board election must submit a Nomination Form by September 20, 2024.
Elections will be held during LAGERS’ Annual Meeting on October 24th at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, MO.
What is the LAGERS Board of Trustees? The LAGERS Board of Trustees is the governing body charged with ensuring the LAGERS system is appropriately managed. The board’s primary duties are serving the members and beneficiaries and protecting system assets. Trustees approve strategy and policy and delegate day-to-day management of the retirement system to staff.
The LAGERS Board of Trustees is made up of three elected Member Trustees, three elected Employer Trustees, and one appointed Citizen Trustee.
Which Seats Will Be Up For Election in 2024?
Three board seats will be up for election in October:
– Member Trustee (full term to 12/31/2028)
– Member Trustee (partial term to 12/31/2025)
– Employer Trustee (full term to 12/31/2028)
Who Can Be Nominated?
An employer trustee candidate must be an elected or appointed official from a participating LAGERS employer. A candidate cannot be a member of LAGERS nor from the same employer as another active Board member.
A member trustee candidate must be an active member of LAGERS. A candidate cannot be from the same employer as another active Board member, a police officer (if there is another police officer on the Board), or a firefighter (if there is another firefighter on the Board).
Who Can Vote in the Trustees’ Election?
Each employer is allowed to designate up to two voting delegates (one member delegate and one employer delegate) to attend the annual meeting to participate in LAGERS’ trustee election. Employer delegates are eligible to vote in the Employer Trustee election(s). Member delegates are eligible to vote in the Member Trustee election(s).
