House Bill 1677Provides for a wider definition for public safety employees that would permit emergency police dispatchers and jailors as police members of the system; and fire dispatchers and emergency medical service personnel as fire members of the system. This would be done as an employer election, with a related cost increase in contributions, and would permit prior service in such positions to be covered under the new election. Such election would be irrevocable.
