Pre-Retirement Seminars
If you are within five years of retirement age, you will want to attend a LAGERS Pre-Retirement Seminar. These programs consists of three sessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. The first session is devoted to explaining LAGERS retirement benefits of the options for payment, final average salary, service credit, working after retirement, the retirement process, and more. The next session is a presentation about retirement and estate planning given by LAGERS Chief Counsel. After an hour break for lunch, a representative from the local Social Security office presents information about the federal retirement program.

Annual Meeting
The LAGERS Annual Meeting is held in late October each year. The primary purpose for this meeting is so that LAGERS members may elect trustees to the LAGERS Board. Each member subdivision may send as many representatives as they wish to the annual meeting, but only two may vote for trustees. One member delegate is elected by the employees at each employer to cast one vote for a Member Trustee. The governing body of each employer appoints an Employer Delegate to represent them and to cast one vote for an Employer Trustee. In addition to the elections, this meeting provides valuable information to LAGERS members about the inner-workings of the system and also provides a great opportunity to network with peers from other local government agencies from across the state. This meeting is not mandatory, but is a great way to participate in your retirement system.

ECLIPSE Training Sessions
ECLIPSE is LAGERS' new web based pension administration system that will be released to LAGERS agencies beginning August 2010. ECLIPSE will bring changes to the way member agencies report wages, contributions, enroll new employees, make payments, etc. The goal of this project is to help LAGERS better serve our agencies, members, and benefit recipients.
All LAGERS agencies will be impacted by the transition to ECLIPSE. Our goal is to make it an easy transition for our members. Rather than attempting to educate, train and transition 600 employers into the system all at once, we have opted for a phased approach. Employers will be integrated into ECLIPSE in regional groups at staggered intervals beginning July 2010. Click here for a tentative release schedule.
LAGERS will be hosting a number of regional educational training sessions 4-6 weeks before your release date. It is critically important that the individuals responsible for handling LAGERS monthly statements, payroll, and employee benefits attend one of the training sessions.
