A LAGERS member will receive service credit while away from work on worker's compensation.
If employee will be on Worker's Compensation Leave for at least 1 working day:
- Change member status to "Worker's Compensation."
- Enter the date the employee started leave in the Member Status Date box.**
- Enter a "0" for the employee's wages, even if he or she is being paid. Zero wages during month(s) on worker's compensation will not be included in the employee's final average salary for determining retirement benefits.
**An employee is not considered to be on worker’s compensation until after he or she has satisfied the three day waiting period. However, if the employee is approved after that time, the date entered in the Member Status Date box should be the first day he or she was not at work.
